Facial Hair Removal Methods

Facial hair is an undesirable and unaesthetic problem that makes women feel embarrassed. Therefore, their desire to remove it is so big that they resort to every method possible just to get rid of this discomfort. Nowadays, there are so many efficient and safe ways to remove facial hair.


Today there are so many methods for facial hair removal, from short-term ones like waxing, tweezing or depilatory creams, to long-term ones such as electrolysis or laser. If you are looking to remove your facial hair for a longer period of time and you are ready to pay more, you should think using the methods in the second category.

Short-term methods

Among short-term methods you can choose waxing, bleaching, tweezing or depilatory creams. These treatments can be made in special salons or you can do it yourself at home.

Waxing. Waxing represents a temporary and efficient hair removal method, especially for mustache and hairs on the chin. The advantage of waxing is that hair it will grow slower and lighter. Make sure that before applying the wax this doesn't have to be hot as it will burn the skin. Test it on the inside of the wrist.
You can also use sugar in order to replace wax, but this might make your skin red and swollen. You have to use a syrup made of sugar, water and lemon juice. Apply on the skin and remove it.

Depilatory creams. This is the easiest way to remove facial hair, as it is not painful at all. Even if it is efficient, the result doesn't last more than 3 to 5 days. When choosing the depilatory cream, make sure it matches your skin type as this creams can cause irritations on skin.

Tweezing. Works especially for removing hairs on the chin. It will slow down the growing process of the hair.

Long-term methods

Laser hair removal. Laser is considered to be the best and the most trustworthy method for hair removal. It has many advantages. Depending on the person, hair is usually removed for good and it doesn't cause any pain and it doesn't affect the skin. Laser destroys the follicles preventing thus the re-growth of the hair.

Electrolysis. This is a very effective method, but it has the disadvantage of being painful. Electrolysis means destroying the hair roots using electric power. It takes between 5 and 10 hours to remove hair with electrolysis depending on the area, while a laser session can last for 2 to 3 hours.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal. This method is recommended for all skin types and it can be customized according hair color, skin color, and hair depth. IPL is considered to be the most effective and safest hair removal methods existing nowadays.
